our ministers

  • melissa jaques

    children's minister

    mjaques@outlookchurch.org

Hanging out with kids and parents is always a joy for me. Born and raised in southern Indiana, I was a preschool teacher/director and also worked several years in retail before moving to Greenfield at the beginning of 2003.

I'm married to Jim and we have twins, Keenan and Claire, as well as two adult children, Chanel and Dalton...and an amazing grandson named Max!

I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to earn a Bachelors degree in Psychology at IUPUC and a Master's degree in Christian Ministry at Lincoln Christian Seminary. In my spare time, I also enjoy playing the piano, reading, and spending time with my family.

  • rob mccord

    senior minister

    rmccord@outlookchurch.org

    Tw  Fb  www

The most important thing I can tell you about myself is that in the middle of my senior year of high school I was confronted with the fact that my belief in Jesus was not translating into anything resembling conviction, devotion, or obedience. I fully turned to Christ that night and haven’t looked back. Everything good I’ve experienced since, I credit to that decision to completely, intentionally (and however imperfectly) follow Jesus.

My education includes earning a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership from Grace Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Practical Theology from Regent University School of Divinity.

I'm grateful for the privilege of being the Senior Minister of Outlook Christian Church. It's a true blessing to serve and share God’s Word with these amazing people.

  • joe mitchell

    administration minister

    jmitchell@outlookchurch.org

I was born and raised in Louisville, KY, but have spent my adult life living throughout the Midwest. I graduated from Bellarmine University with a degree in Accounting; and I earned my M.A. in Ministry from Lincoln Christian University. My wife, Janna, and I have three children: Ireland, Isaac, and Atticus.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, helping with mens' ministries, studying God's Word, reading, and golfing. I'm also an avid lover of chocolate.

I'm thankful for the opportunity to be employed at Outlook because "when you're doing the Lord's work, it doesn't feel like work at all."

  • robyn priest

    connection minister

    rpriest@outlookchurch.org

Priest means "bridge-builder”.  God made me to connect people to Him and each other.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing people "know and be known, love and be loved, serve and be served."

God also made me a bit of an adventurer, sending me to build bridges with tribal peoples in East Africa and urbanites in Singapore before moving to Indiana.  My husband Doug and I continue our adventures now by birding, hiking, and camping.

I hold a Master of Arts in Ministry degree from Lincoln Christian University, and am ordained for ministry by the elders of Outlook, where I have been incredibly blessed to serve since July 2000.  Doug and I have two daughters and sons in law, Nicole and Greg Cesare and Andrea and Aaron Homoya, and two grandpuppies, Tiny and Alfred.

  • josh weber

    worship arts minister

    jweber@outlookchurch.org

Growing up as a preacher’s kid in Illinois, I vowed I would never become a minister, but God changed the course of my life. I'm forever thankful for my calling to Worship Arts Ministry. I believe that worship is a privileged response to the glory of God, and at Outlook, we are continually striving to be a worshipping community, loving God and loving each other.

I have been married to my amazing wife, Krista, since 2004. We have been blessed with two boys, Caden and Mason. As for education, I graduated from Lincoln Christian University with a B.A. in Family Life (2003) and an M.A. in Worship Studies (2006).

I love serving at Outlook and am constantly reminded of God’s grace and provision for our lives. It's my joy and privilege to be part of such an amazing church family, and I look forward to the journey that God has in store for us.

  • mike wilkins

    missions and outreach minister

    mwilkins@outlookchurch.org

I am a lifelong Hoosier, born in Fort Wayne, attended college and law school at Notre Dame, and moved to Indianapolis in 1988. My wife, Angie, and I have been members of Outlook since 2005. We are the parents of four daughters.

In my “day job” , I am a lawyer and Christian mediator. I previously served on the Board of Elders for five years and am now blessed to be working with our outreach and mission teams while pursuing a career in full-time ministry. I have earned an M.A. in Ministry from Lincoln Christian University.

  • mitch young

    student minister

    myoung@outlookchurch.org

Growing up on the other side of Indy, I was incredibly blessed to live in a home with two parents and two older siblings who loved Christ uniquely and passionately in all they did. I accepted Jesus Christ as a fire insurance policy when I was 4 years old because I didn't want to experience hell. I later rededicated my life to Him at 12 years old when I realized how much he wished to have a deep relationship with me, despite my failures and imperfections.

While receiving a BA in Psychology from Taylor Universty and a MA in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College, I assumed that ministry was supposed to take place through professional counseling in homes or in the office setting. God however had other plans as He orchestrated my transition from volunteering along with my wife to pursuing full-time youth ministry. My passion is to help students know Jesus Christ by coming along side them and their families as they wrestle with the unavoidable joys, questions, and sorrows of their spiritual walk.

When I wake up every morning and look in the mirror, I am reminded how blessed I am to be married to my best friend, Kristen. Together, we are blessed, entertained, and stretched by our three children: Elianna, Jameson, and Bennett.

OUR STAFF

  • AMY draves

    children's ministry assistant

    adraves@outlookchurch.org

Michigan was where I was born and raised. I attended Central Michigan University, Universitat Tubingen (in Germany while working as a nanny), and Oakland University. When my kids were younger, I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom. In my 40s I finally figured out what I was going to do when I grew up when I was called into children's ministry in Anderson in 1997. My husband, Kevin, and I have attended Outlook since November 2013 and immediately felt welcomed and at home here. I've had the honor of teaching in the Camp Outlook's 4s class since 2014. I feel coming alongside the parents as they guide their kids in their faith is one of the most important things that we can do as adults. This is a great place to show these wonderful kids the love of Christ and the joy of personally knowing Him.

Kevin and I have three kids, a wonderful son-in-law, the best grandkids in the world, and two cocker spaniels. Reading, bike riding, and being with family are among the things I enjoy.

  • bev fudge

    worship arts ministry assistant

    worship@outlookchurch.org

I’m a farm girl from Chalmers, IN, who thrives on variety! I am wife to Scott and mom to Megan and Tyler. I earned a BA degree in Mass Communication from Purdue, own a floral business (A Basket of Flowers), and help manage our family farm. In addition, Scott says I’m a “professional volunteer” since much of my spare time is devoted to serving others through church, school (LCHS), community, and kids’ activities.

After more than 35 years of serving in worship at the churches I’ve attended, my volunteer role at Oaklandon evolved into a part-time staff position at Outlook where I enjoy working behind-the-scenes to assist Josh. The highlight of my week is coming to church on Sunday morning and seeing all the pieces of the worship service come together to create an atmosphere where God is glorified!

  • kelly grimmett

    pastoral care director

    kgrimmett@outlookchurch.org

I committed my life to Jesus at church camp when I was eleven. With degrees in psychology and criminal justice from the University of Evansville, I began working as a social worker. I returned to school for my law degree from Indiana University. For 20 years, I practiced in the areas of family law, juvenile delinquency, and child protection. After an unexpected illness, God set me on a new path.

On September 13, 2011, I re-committed my life to Jesus, was baptized and joined Outlook. I have been a leader in Celebrate Recovery, and I will soon finish my Master of Ministry degree from Lincoln Christian University. My prayer is for God to use everything I have experienced in life to care for the sick and elderly.

My husband, Ken, and I have been married since 1987, and we are the parents of two adult daughters, Kendra and Kelsey.

  • paul hein

    assistant operations director

    phein@outlookchurch.org

I was born and raised in Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa. I am married to Fran and we have two children, Kristin and Alex.

  • becky john

I am a true "Hoosier" born and bred. My husband, Rob, and I have been married since 1992. We have one daughter, Reagen, who is attends Concordia University of Chicago, and two furry kids, Fergie the Cavalier and Bentley the Mini Dachshund.

After being in the finance business for 15 years, I decided it was time for a career change. I started working at Outlook Christian Preschool in November 2000. In my spare time, I like to stamp cards, watch movies, and read.

Even though I attend a different church, the people here at Outlook have always made me feel like part of their church family. God is truly amazing!

  • sandy johnson

    preschool director

    sjohnson@outlookchurch.org

I love working at OCCPS because I love ministering to young children and their families. It is such a blessing to plant the seeds of the gospel in their fertile little hearts! And then, see them grow in God’s love with each passing year they are with us.

I am a born and raised Buckeye, but have been in Indianapolis since 1990. I married my high school sweetheart, Mike, and we celebrated our 25th anniversary in August 2011. We have 2 sons, Seth and Zane. After teaching Kindergarten for many years, I became the Preschool Director in 2008.

I like to cook all kinds of food and love to read mystery novels and anything written by Seth.

  • randy julian

    rjulian@outlookchurch.org

I was born in Indianapolis, IN, and grew up on the east side in Lawrence. I graduated from Clark College in 1991 and began work here at Outlook in 2006. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Carol, for 27 years and have two beautiful daughters, Lindsey and Kailey, and one grandson, Clayton.

I love working at Outlook because I’m surrounded by my brothers and sisters of Christ learning to love each other like Jesus. I want to share that with others in need.

  • kim kiphart

ministry assistant to the senior minister

    kkiphart@outlookchurch.org

God has blessed me with my husband, Ben, and our two children: Zachary and Katelyn. Hanging out with my family is one of my greatest joys.

I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a minor in Psychology (I know it is a strange combo!). I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 15+ years in a variety of roles. I enjoyed learning new disciplines and traveling internationally.

As a church volunteer, I enjoy working with the World Outreach Mission team and Women’s ministry. As a part-time staff member, I am privileged to be part of a team that desires to provide Biblical, insightful, and practical teaching that enables a life-changing relationship with Jesus.

  • becky laravia

    communications associate

    blaravia@outlookchurch.org

I was born in Chicago, raised in Indiana, went to college and got married in Texas, had my kids in California, and then returned home to Indiana. I received my BA in Theology from Ambassador College in Texas where I met my husband, Jeff. We have 3 sons: Kyle, Jake, and Seth.

I'm blessed beyond words by working at Outlook. I love being surrounded by people who truly love God and love people, not just at work, but with the people of Outlook as well. I'm also privileged to be a sponsor in the Student Ministry.

  • Julianne Linn

    communications associate

    jlinn@outlookchurch.org

I grew up in the beautiful country of Crawfordsville, IN. I graduated from Purdue University with a BA in Visual Communications Design. After graduation, I moved to Indianapolis where I came to know Christ.

I married my high school sweetheart, Aaron. We have two wonderful children, Autumn and Brooks, and one on the way! I spend my time caring for and teaching our children at home, design invitations, and have free-lance projects.

I'm incredibly excited to be on this journey in joining the Outlook staff. It's a great blessing to serve along side my brothers and sisters in Christ!

  • wendy mayo

    children's ministry nursery director

    wmayo@outlookchurch.org

My passion for little ones started as a young child. I first started volunteering in a church nursery when I was in 8th grade. I received my BS in Elementary Education from Indiana State University. I taught for several years, but after I married my husband, Adam, God changed my role from teacher to mom. It's such a blessing to be able to stay home with our three kids, Adison, Keagan, and Camden.

In 2010, I was asked to help coordinate the nursery. I love teaching the babies about Jesus and seeing their happy faces as they "pat the Bible". The opportunity to serve the littlest Outlookers is definitely one of the highlights of my week.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being crafty, and caravanning the kids between all their activities. I look forward to this journey God has called me to be on and am excited to be serving with our Outlook family.

  • carli mellentine

    connection ministry assistant

    cmellentine@outlookchurch.org

I was born in Detroit and have lived all across Michigan. I am beyond blessed with a wonderful husband and 5 great boys. After moving quite a few times, we followed God's lead and moved to Indiana in 2008.

A college professor once told me, "If you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life." Ministry is that for me. I love it and feel extremely blessed to be working at Outlook. God has used my life experiences to form me into who I am today. I love helping people get connected and feeling comfortable in our church family. I also love working with our High School youth group as a youth sponsor.

If I ever do have free time, I love to read, spend time with friends, and try to be crafty. I also love going "home" to Michigan with my family to hang out on the beach!

  • mike miner

    youth sports outreach director

    mminer@outlookchurch.org

Being born and raised in central Indiana, it seemed natural to attend Purdue University and then move to Indy to be close to family after graduation. That's where I met my wife Cindy and started our family with three loving little girls, Mackenzie, Natalie and Marissa. We came to Outlook in 2004, then Oaklandon Christian Church, because of the people and God's Word where I got involved with the sports leagues right away.

It's been a joy serving ever since and I am honored to be part of a team that has been helping kids in our communities play sports and learn about Jesus for over 15 years.

  • janna mitchell

    student ministry assistant

    jannamitchell@outlookchurch.org

I was blessed to grow up in a home with parents who were strong in their faith and thereby fastidious to the spiritual training and development of their children. From the tender age of 7, when I whole-heartedly accepted the Lord as my Savior and professed my belief through baptism, I have been sincerely devoted to following Jesus.

I can honestly tell you that I never envisioned the path He had laid out for me to include homeschooling 3 children and now, to additionally be serving part time as the Student Ministry Assistant! However, the peace that comes from following His leading, and the many, many gifts that he bestows for that decision, are never tenuous. It is with that understanding that I joyfully look forward to this endeavor, continuing to run this race set before me.

  • Jayla Newton

    children's ministry ASSISTANT

    jnewton@outlookchurch.org

Born and raised in Indianapolis, I have been blessed to grow up in a family that has taught and shown me the love of Jesus. I asked Christ into my heart at the age of seven.  I currently attend Crossroads Bible College where I am majoring in Urban Leadership and Ministry.  At a young age I felt the call to work with children and see it as a privilege to have the opportunity to invest in our next generation.

Along with attending school, I also coach a high school basketball team. Basketball has always been a huge part of my life and serves as a great ministry. I also enjoy reading and listening to music.

I am beyond blessed to be able to serve at Outlook and work with such a great team!  I can not wait to see what the Lord will continue to do in and through our church.

  • betty watkins

    administrative assistant

Born and raised here on the east side of Indianapolis, my wife, Kathleen, and I were baptized together in 1997. Since that time it has been an honor and privilege for us to be part of a congregation that is so motivated in their love for Jesus. Growing both as a church and individually has been quite a journey!

We have two daughters and two grandchildren. We are part of a wonderful life group and serve in different ministries at Outlook. I manage a restaurant and catering business and am currently earning my Master of Arts in Ministry.

I am excited to see where God leads us in the future as we reach out to others in our community and am humbled to partner with believers at Outlook as we seek to bring glory to God and His son, Jesus.

  • Rick Doss

I’ve been married to Connie for 25 years. Together we’ve raised three children: Bailey, Nick, and Miranda.

My wife and I have served in numerous ministries at Outlook including food pantry, nursery, children’s ministry, student ministry, vacation Bible school, and youth sports. I also had the honor of being the Executive Director of the capital campaign while at the Oaklandon building, working with countless volunteers to raise awareness and support, in the form of prayer and sacrificial giving to make the construction of our Outlook campus a reality.

I’m most passionate about how the body of Christ at Outlook works so selflessly to welcome seekers in to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m honored to work with a gifted staff of energetic, committed Christ followers.

  • nAN gILL

I love this church and its mission!  It is full of grace and love and is an awesome place to find and grow a relationship with Jesus.  My husband Joe  and I have been members of Outlook since 1991.

Joe and I met in high school.  We grew up on the eastside of Indianapolis and never left.  We have been married for 40 years and are blessed with a son, a daughter, and two granddaughters whom we are fortunate to see frequently.

I graduated from Ball Sate with a degree in elementary education but never taught in the classroom environment.  After graduation, I interviewed for a position in the group insurance administration field, got hooked, and never left - there is a pattern here!

It is a joy to serve others whether it is at work, at home, or in my church.

  • john hall

After graduating from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids in 1969, my wife, Marcia, and I served many years in pioneering and establishing new churches. We have been married since 1963, raised four children and have nine grandchildren. One grandchild lives with us.

It has been our joy and privilege to have been members of Outlook since 2001. We have been richly blessed by the ministry here. We currently serve as life group leaders in the Fort Benjamin Harrison area, meeting every other Tuesday. We still have room for new people who want to get connected with other believers and grow in their spiritual life.

During the week, I train healthcare workers to serveth children and adults who have special needs. Our calling is in teaching and training Christian workers.

I’ve served as an adult Sunday class teacher at the former campus, helped with VBS, and enjoyed getting to know lots of Outlookers while serving as director of the Onward campaign. Robin was a youth sponsor in the student ministry, has helped plan and lead women’s retreats, and has a big heart for prayer.

One of our fondest memories is of taking the high school group to CIY in Carbondale, IL. It was fun to share the experience as a couple and to spend a week with a bunch of energetic teenagers.
